Drivers, commuters and residents of Oke Ako Ekiti, Ijowa Ekiti and Irele Ekiti in Ajoni Local Council Development Area of Ekiti state have thanked Governor Kayode Fayemi for giving attention to the construction of a major bridge connecting Communities in the area.
The bridge, which was constructed many years ago was brought down by flooding a couple of years ago.
They said that the construction of a new bridge was in fulfillment of the promise made by Governor Kayode Fayemi when he visited the area.
The people added that the gesture had restored the hope of the benefiting communities.
Road users were yesterday evening help up in traffic gridlock from Ijigbo in Ado Ekiti to Ajebandele area following a downpour that lasted about two hours.
The rain led to the flooding of some sections of the road, thereby forcing motorists to abandon their lanes and drove against traffic.
The move later led to a gradual traffic build up, which thereafter forced movements to a standstill.
Some officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, the police, Civil Defense, Amotekun Corps and the Military later came to the rescue of the road users who were held up there for about 4 & a half hours.
Some of the citizens appealed to relevant agencies of government to identify the flooded roads portions and profer solutions to advert a recurrence.
