The wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Abiodun-Oyebanji, says efforts were on to erect perimeter fences round schools that lacked such in the state.
Dr Abiodun-Oyebanji, who gave the assurance at an interactive session with Principals and Teachers of public secondary schools in the state, said the motive was to further improve security in the affected schools.
The Programme, with the theme, “Keeping Schools Safe for Quality Education of Our Adolescents”, was tagged “Ekiti First lady Day Out with principals and teachers of public secondary schools in Ekiti State”.
Dr Abiodun-Oyebanji explained that the National and State Governments were committed to ensuring the safety of both teachers and students.
According to her, the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, AGILE project, was one of the interventions deployed to ensure that adolescents’ attendance, retention and completion of school programme was guaranteed.
“At this point, I want to assure you that, there will be provision of perimeter fencing for schools that lack it, this is being addressed in order to further improve security in the affected schools,The government will also continue to strengthen the Ministry of Education, Teaching Service Commission, State Universal Basic Education Board Adult and Non-Formal Education, Specal Education and Board for Technical and Vocational Education for effective delivery of quality education.”
