The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mrs Bunmi Adelugba, has been formally presented to the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, followed by a brief meeting.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor, the SSG, Exco members, State and local council party Excos of the APC.
The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly was accompanied to the Governor’s office by other 17 lawmakers.
Presenting the Speaker formally to EKiti state Governor, the State Chairman of the APC, Mr Paul Omotosho, commended the Governor for his neutrality during the process that led to the emergence of the new Speaker.
He threw the weight of the state and 16 local government APC Excos behind the Assembly.
Also, the Special Adviser on Political matters and Inter Party Affairs, Chief Jide Awe, encouraged the Speaker to remain strong and courageous, saying the party leadership would give her necessary support to succeed.
In his remarks, the Deputy Speaker, Mr Hakeem Jamiu, thanked the party leaders for ensuring that peace reign in the Assembly.
He expressed his readiness as the Deputy Speaker to work with the current Speaker.
Thanking the governor for the audience, the Speaker, Mrs Adelugba said that the latest development was in compliance with the party’s directive of ensuring Political stability in the Assembly.
Welcoming the legislators to his office, the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, says democracy comes with stress and strength, thanking the party leadership for resolving the crisis in the state House of Assembly amicably.
The Governor, who reacted to some insinuations that emanated from the leadership tussle, noted that he did not interfere in the affairs of the Assembly, adding his position as the number one citizen of the state is to remain fair to all.
