The Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, has commenced the process of relocating it’s office from the Okesa area of Ado Ekiti to give room for the construction of a block of 36 classrooms Model College, barely a month after the state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, laid its foundation stone.
Officials of the Board have started moving their belongings and Government properties in their care to the new Office complex, located at the State Secretariat, when BSES visited.
During the foundation laying, the governor said that the building would have over 50 toilets, chemistry, biology and physics laboratories , as well as an ICT and Home Economics laboratories.
Other facilities that would be in the school include a large examination hall , staffrooms , administrative offices, perimeter fencing , a football pitch, a basketball court, parking space and water treatment plant, amongst others
Speaking on the development, the Chairman of SUBEB, Prof Femi Akinwumi, expressed appreciation to the state governor for providing more conducive office accommodation for the Board at the State Secretariat in Ado.
Prof Akinwumi said about five hundred million naira would be expended on the new school project and would be completed in six months.
He said the project would be a model for South West States.
