Nilayo of Abeokuta were one nil victors over Ekiti United fc in a south west derby of the Nigeria National League-NNL week 3 encounter at the weekend.
The only goal of the match came as early as 8th minute when a player of FC Nilayo was dangerously obstructed by Ekiti United defender inside the box.
It resulted in a penalty kick for FC Nilayo and it was converted perfectly.Shortly after the goal, Ekiti United were shocked to the marrow and did not recover from the early goal conceded for better part of the first half.
Coach Ayodeji Ayeni of Ekiti United brought in the duo of Chikodi Pius and Onyeka Nwaiwu while Dayo Owoniyi and Amaechi Orji were substituted in the first half.The second half was characterized by fire brand football as both teams gave it their best .
A couple of scoring chances for FC Nilayo were halted by the referee for offside while Ekiti United created some nice moves in the midfield but FC Nilayo sweated to stop the onslaughts from all anglesOne of the best chances that came the way of Ekiti United as Kamoru Adebari’s goal bound header was surprisingly stopped by the woodwork.
