….Governor Oyebanji to ensure Institutional Reform
The Ekiti State University, EKSU, Ado-Ekiti Alumni Association led by the Global President, Engr Dipo Bamisaye and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Dr Olawale Jegede on Tuesday, 18th April, 2023, visited the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji.
During the visit, the Association congratulated the Governor on his election and subsequent victories on the litigations that followed, stressing that the governor came at a time the institution desired a sincere turnaround especially from an Alumnus Governor.
It applauded the Governor for constituting an ‘incorruptible Governing Council for the institution as well commended him for the good report of performance given the shortest time of assessment of his administration and thereafter appointed the Governor as its Grand Patron
Eksu alumni called for a financial autonomy for the institution’s College of Medicine for efficiency and development of the citadel of learning emphasizing the need to improve on the university’s financial status which suffered several setbacks due to inadequate subvention from previous administrations.
An appeal was made to Governor Oyebanji to, as a matter of urgency, to address the accommodation issue with particular reference to construction of female hostel in the institution.
Some of the interventions of the Association to the University were highlighted to include procurement of laptops to hasten transcripts process, Endowment funds for outstanding students, donation of a storey Students ‘Union building, a 500 capacity lecture theatre, construction of medical hostel, water schemes, Alumni village among others.
Responding, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, laden with emotions, described himself as an Ambassador of the Alumni Association and pledged not to let the Association down.
He agreed the University needs an Institutional Reform that would involved the Governing Council, Government, Unions, Alumni Association, Parents and other stakeholders in order to advance the institution.
He promised unalloyed support to the University to bring back its lost glory.
Governor Oyebanji also urged the Alumni Association to scout for its members in the National Assemblies for a robust relationship aimed at strengthening the development agenda of government.
Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of a customized congratulatory card signed by members to the Governor.
