The new Alararomi of Araromi Ekiti in Ijero local government area of Ekiti-State Oba Babatunde Babalola has commenced the traditional rites to ascend the throne of his forefathers.
The development was sequel to the approval of his appointment by the State Executive council.
Oba Babalola emerged the choice of the kingmakers through the Ifa divination as tradition demands out of the 3 Princes who contested for the stool in February 18, 2023
Oba Babalola along side his wife, Olori Abiodun received a rousing welcome at the outskirts of the community on Thursday as sons and daughters of the town, well-wishers and admirers of Oba Babalola filed out to celebrate his success story.
They thereafter danced to the residence of the monarch, in a show of solidarity.
The Eruku of Araromi Ekiti, chief Stephen Folayan revealed that the monarch will spend three days in his residence before proceeding to the house of one of the kingmakers where he will stay for days to observe series of rites in line with the culture and traditions of the town.
He said all the traditional rites regarding the ascension of oba Babalola will be done within seven days.
“Kabiyesi will stay in his father’s house for three days, thereafter he will come to the T junction of the town to receive his coronation sand in the morning of the third day, He will thereafter proceed to his forefathers house (former kings), he will then go to residence of the third in command to spend three months”
Chief Folayan explained that the event was long awaited by the people of the community adding that the large turn out of people was a clear demonstration that the wishes of the people came to reality.
The president, Araromi progressive union chief Olusegun Agboola who doubles as the head of warriors in the community, and prince Joseph Olatunji affirmed that the process that led to Oba Babalola emergence as the Alararomi was fair, transparent and conforms to the guideline for the appointment of Alararomi as stipulated in the state chiefs law, saying that the new monarch is the choice of the people
They congratulated the new Alararomi on his appointment and implored him to extend his hands of friendship to the other contestants in order to foster harmonious relationship for the development of the community.
Oba Babalola who thanked the people for their support
promised to promote peace, unity and development of the community.
He appealed to other contestants to joining hands with him in the task of moving the community to enviable height.
Oba Babalola who is from the Odimulele ruling house succeeds oba Caleb Adeoye who joins his ancestors on the 18th November 2021.
