The President, 2004/2005 Alumni set of the Ado Grammar School, Ado Ekiti, Mr Olabode Wilson Rawa, has charged members of the alumni to be more dedicated and committed to the organisation’s programmes and projects geared toward uplifting the school to the desired greater heights.
Rawa gave the charge on Saturday during the maiden reunion and inauguration of executive of the alumni in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
Rawa, who was re-elected as President of Alumni for another term of two years, said it was only with the commitment of members that the laudable projects and initiatives of the organisation could be actualised.
He specifically mentioned the proposed 500 seater Event Hall which the organisation was planning to execute through raising of funds as one of such important projects.
The President disclosed that the organization was able to distribute lots of JAMB UTME forms to deserving students of the school as part of its education development drive.
He praised members of the Alumi for their donations and sacrificing their precious time and energy toward the progress and development of their Alma Matta.
Rawa described the reunion event as a great opportunity for members to interact, exchange pleasantries, banters and even contacts for future dealings.
He also charged members to be more spiritually inclined by moving closer to God through practice, devotion and prayers in order to succeed in their various life endeavours.
The President also used the opportunity to remember those members of alumni who have passed on and directed a one minute silence for the repose of their souls.
“The adage which says 20 children can not stay together for 20 years is true on one part.
“Yes, it’s been years we saw but with the advancement in human knowledge which gave birth to the internet, we have stayed together virtually and it is my prayer that God in His mercies keep us all in good health and great accomplishment.
“Please today is a time to merry and exchange banters and contacts, a time for reminiscing on how those teachers beat and punish us for coming late, stained uniforms for scaling the fence and passing through the bush I to the class.
“The naughty branks we played on each other, the small fights, the laughter and the likes.
“As you do this please go with this message that it is God alone who can bless and make person rich.
“Be patient and work hard, don’t be slothful think out of the box on how to grow your business. Contact people in your field of business who can help you.
“Log on to Google for ideas, attend seminars, workshops talk to people in government who can help you with your businesses.
“We thank God for the achievements we have been able to accomplished, you all made it happen,” he said.
Some of the newly elected executive members of the alumni are: Mr Olabode Wilson Rawa, President, Mrs Omolayo-Vice president, Mr Adeosun Temidayo Busuyi, General Secretary, Miss Oluwalana Rhoda, Treasurer.
Others are: Mrs Aderiye Ayobami, P.R.O, Mrs Adesina Titilayo, Financial Secretary and Assistant General Secretary, Mrs Mohmoh Dada Mercy.
Other appointments is expected to be done during the EXCO meeting.
In their remarks, Mr Alofe Abiodun and Mr Kayode Jegede applauded the efforts and contributions of the 2005 set Alumni for returning back to their Alma Mater.
They promised to effect the School Anthem and lyrics in the social media platforms as soon as possible for its assessibility by members of the Alumni on social media.
Members present at the historical event included: Mr Benard Ogunsakin, Mr Emmanuel, Miss Omolayo, Mr Orija Taiwo, Mr Sikiru, Mrs Adesina Titilayo.
The rest are: Mr Olumide alias OBE, Mr Aruleba Temitope and Mr Adegbite Michael, among others.
