Fayemi says constitutional reform will sustain Nation’s diversity

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has affirmed that the ongoing constitutional reform process in the country will enable the 1999 constitution to be workable and sustain the diversity of the nation.

Dr Fayemi who declared open a public consultation forum in Ado to said that the current 1999 constitution was a product of military decrees.

He emphasized that the Constitution did not emanate from a process of consultation, hence the need to allow the participation of Nigerians in the alteration of some provisions of the Constitution.

The Governor who claimed that constitution was always a product of involvement retierated that the ongoing process would enable Nigerians to effect the changes that they long desire.

He hoped that the end process of the constitutional review would reflect the greater aspirations of the people.

He charged the participants to utilize the opportunity and suggest areas required to amended.
