Foremost Traditionalist, Chief Akin Ojo Atayese, appeals to Ekiti Government to recognize Isese day

Traditional Religious worshippers in Ekiti-State today joined their counterparts around the country to celebrate the 2024 Isese Day.

A foremost traditionalist, chief Akin Ojo Atayese, the Araba of Ado-Ekiti, chief Fasina and the Iya Awo Ifa, Mrs Iyabo Ifadunsin-Adadayo led adherents of different deities, and to the Ewi’s palace to showcase the rich cultural and traditional values of Ekiti people.

They called on the state government to give due recognition to traditionalists and also approve August 20 as a public holiday to mark Isese day as obtained in some states in the south west region.

The devotees prayed in a traditional way for the peace and progress of the state and as well rendered different songs to eulogize their deities and ancestors.

The Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe who congratulated the devotees on the occasion, emphasized the need to promote harmony among the three religious in the state.

The traditional religion worshippers thereafter danced round major streets, in Ado the state capital and offered special prayers at some strategic spots.

August 20th has been declared a work free day to mark Isese Day in osun, Oyo, Ogun and Lagos states.
