The appointment of the suspended Registrar of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, FUOYE, Mr. Olatunbosun Odusanya has been terminated by the University’s Governing Council being chaired by Dr. Mohammed Yahuza.
A statement co-signed by both the Chief Information Officer and the Special Adviser on Media Matters to the VC, Folusho Ogunmodede and Wole Balogun respectively, made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti said that Odusanya’s appointment was terminated on Tuesday during the Council meeting.
This was just as the amiable and caring Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, has allayed the fear being allegedly entertained in some quarters of the University community that following the exit of the Registar, the next would be to come after those he had allegedly appointed in what has now been confirmed to be an irregular excercise.
Prof. Fasina said that those entertaining such fear or being furnished with such rumour should perish the thought as his administration was not going to witchhunt any member of staff.
It will be recalled that the Registrar of the University was on Thursday, April 20, handed a letter suspending him to allow for proper investigation into allegations of irregular appointments during the recruitment exercise of the University from the August 1, 2020 to the February 10, 2020.
Odusanya was later sacked by same Governing Council on Tuesday, April 27 after receiving, considering and upholding the report of Council Disciplinary Committee constituted to review the report of the Investigative Committee earlier set up to review all appointments during the said period.
However, following that tragic incident, there have been insinuations from several quarters within and outside the University that the Prof. Fasina led Management had allegedly embarked on a witchhunt mission and would likely sack every staff allegedly irregularly appointed by Odusanya that ran foul of the University regulations.
But clearing the air on the matter, the statement co-signed by Ogunmodede and Balogun said that the VC wasn’t going to go after any staff member because his mission was never to sack any staff but to improve on the well being and welfare of all.
The statement further reads in part: ” For me as the VC, my emergence was God’s divine mandate and project. So, l will not work against anyone. I have no plan to sack any staff member of our great Ivory Tower. However, in line with Council’s directive, we will review all the said appointments with a view to regularising all appointments that measure up to our standards, most notably departmental needs, qualifications, proper placement and due process.
” My passion has always been to make life very conducive and comfortable for anyone around me and this is what I have always dedicated my life to. God has really helped me and fought for me. I have nothing to do than to love people around me and spread happiness to all.
” I assure you, no one will be a victim of the suspension of the Registar by the Governing Council of our great Citadel of Learning. Rather, staff member shall continue to enjoy the best in terms of incentives to work, proper training to hone their skills and amazing welfare packages that will continue to gladden their hearts. “
The statement also reiterated that Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim is now Acting Registrar of the University.
