The Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has re-echoed its administration determination to be transparent on all traditional matters and never be influenced in the choice of any Oba in the state.
Governor Fayemi made the statement at the official presentation of instrument of appointment and staff office to the new Onijaro of Ijaro Ekiti, Oba Joshua Ogunbiyi.
The ceremony was held in tandem with Covid -19 protocol at the Conference hall, Governor’s office in Ado-Ekiti.
Dr Fayemi who spoke through his deputy, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi said that the freedom of choice which his government dwelt on, was in compliance with the extant rules and Chieftaincy declaration of the state and communities.
He congratulated the new Onijaro, Oba Joshua Ogunbiyi on his enthronement, the selection process which he said was adgudged smooth, hitch free and devoid of political influence.
Describing traditional rulers as custodians of culture and traditions, Governor Fayemi tasked Oba Ogunbiyi to work harmoniously with his people to accelerate social, economic and industrial progress.
In his remarks, the new Onijaro of Ijaro Ekiti, Oba Joshua Ogunbiyi from Ijee ruling house who thanked the people of the town for his selection, promised to attract rapid development to the town.
The Chairman, Ilejemeje Local Government, Mr Akin Oladunjoye lauded the State Government for approving the selection process of Oba Ogunbiyi following the decision of the kingmakers and confirmation of Ifa Oracle.
The Chairman, Ekiti Council of Obas and Alawe, Oba Adebanji Ajibade-Alabi observed that the filling of vacant traditional stools in the state would further strenghten security of lives and property of the citizenry as well as development of the various communities.
