The Ekiti State Governor Mr Biodun Oyebanji has commended the Federal Government for establishing an Air Force base in the state with a view to strengthening the state’s security
The Governor gave the commendation while performing the ground breaking of a New Air Force Base at Igbemo Ekiti.
He commended the Chief of Air Staff for ensuring the take off of the project barely three years after the project was conceived by the Fayemi led administration.
Oyebanji said that the establishment of the Air force base was a clear evidence of the commitment of the NAF leadership to the welfare of its personnel and development of the state.
He noted that the strategic location of the base at Igbemo-Ijan road would not only quicken its response to emergencies but would also improve the turnaround time at providing combat search and rescue for citizens in distress.
The Governor pledged the support of the state government to the speedy completion of the project, adding that the new Air Force base would complement the Ekiti International Cargo Airport as well as create employment.
In his remarks the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao said the base when completed would enhance security in the state and help in curbing all kinds of crimes.
He said the Nigeria Air Force would collaborate with other security agencies in the state to curb crime.
While commending the Ekiti State Governor for his strides in the development of the state, Air Marshal Amao said the NAF would create an enabling environment for him to sustain the growth of the state.
