….RE-ECHO CALL FOR “AFE BABALOLA DAY” CELEBRATION.
An indigenous group under the aegis of Ekiti Kete Coalition USA, has conferred the esteemed “Outstanding Achiever of All Time” award on the founder of one of the fastest growing Universities in the world, Afe Babalola University Ado Ekiti ABUAD, Aare Afe Babalola, for his unparalleled contributions to education, law, and social welfare.
The President of the Association, Hon. Joe Olugbamila in company of the Secretary of the group Hajia Opeyemi Oni who came all the way from the United States of America to present the award to the renowned lawyer, human rights advocate, philanthropist and Community developer say that Aare Babalola’s legacy is a shining example of what it means to serve humanity with integrity and dedication
“Aare Afe Babalola’s selfless service to the development of this Country has inspired generations. His visionary leadership, exemplary character, and unwavering commitment to education, justice, and social welfare makes him an iconic figure deserving of this prestigious award” Olugbamila remarked.
Hajia Opeyemi Aisha while appreciating Aare Afe Babalola’s tireless efforts towards spearheading the uplift and emancipation of individuals and communities from the shackles of ignorance, poverty and inequality, described him as the father of Modern Nigeria.
” Aare Afe Babalola’s contributions to Nigeria’s development are multifaceted, and they have left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s history. His tireless efforts in education, law, and social welfare have transformed the nation, I believe there is no other person that deserve to be known as the “Father of Modern Nigeria.” she said.
The occasion gave the group the opportunity to rekindle its demand for a special day to honor Aare Babalola contributions to education, law, and social welfare.
The duo commented, ” We as members of Ekiti Kete Coalition USA still maintain our stance on the actualization of the “Afe Babalola Day” to commemorate his remarkable achievements, we also believe that things should be done the right way such important issue should not be politicized”
They added that the group would continue to clamour and support the “Afe Babalola Day” initiative:
The group also honored the Senate leader, Dr Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele for his excellent legislative work, noting that he has sponsored critical bills that have positively impacted Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.
In his response, Aare Babalola’s the renowned educationist, and philanthropist, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Ekiti Kete Coalition USA for conferring upon him the prestigious Outstanding Achiever of All time.
The elder statement who reminisced on his early days as a young lawyer, his tireless advocacy for human rights, and his pioneering spirit in education, harped on the need for love and unity among Nigerians towards a brighter future for Nigeria.
While addressing journalists on some burning national issues, the Nonagenarian lauded the Dangote Refinery project, describing it as a game-changer in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
He also emphasized the need to break monopolies in various sectors to foster healthy competition and national growth and as well tasked government to create an enabling environment for competition, protecting consumers and encouraging entrepreneurship.
