Unknown gunmen, numbering about six, have allegedly attacked the ELEWU of Ewu Ekiti, Oba Bamidele Ajayi, in the outskirts of his community while returning from a neighbouring town, Ayetoro Ekiti.
The monarch, who was said to have driven himself, around six in the evening yesterday, tried to evade being abducted by the suspects who emerged from the bush, when the incident happened.
An eye witness account says that the assailants, who were angered by the refusal of the monarch to stop for them, fired several gun shots at his car, thereby incapacitating him.
The suspected kidnappers were reported to have dispossed the monarch of cash totalling over 200 thousand naira and his three mobile phones.
Upon disappearance into the bush, rescuers moved in and evacuated Oba Ajayi, who sustained gun shot wounds,to a hospital for medicare.
Some of the residents of the community, who spoke with Ekiti FM called for improved security, urging the Police, the NSCDC, the military, the Amotekun Corps as well as the local vigilante groups to comb all the forests in the state and apprehended criminal elements hybernating there
