About Seventy five farmers from Isokan Local Council Development Area, Ifaki Ekiti, have been empowered with farm implements by the Council’s Chairman, Mr Kayode Ogundaisi.
The chairman said the motive was to encourage the farmers as the rainy season approaches.
Mr Ogundaisi who handed the implements such as sprayers, hybrid maize, insecticides, cutlasses to the beneficiares said the gesture was in compliance with the directive of the governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji to ensure food sufficiency in the state.
He urged the beneficiares to utilize the items distributed effectively and not sell them.
“We have been mandated by the governor to empower our people particularly in the area of Agriculture and that is what we are doing today, we want to boost our Agricultural sector, we want an increase in what we produce and that is why we have called our people here to heed to the call of Mr governor” he concluded
My Ogundaisi who said plans were underway to further empower the people explained that the management of the council Inaugurated four months ago was able to give out the farm implements owing to the cooperation and support received from the state governor.
“We selected the beneficiaries from the four wards that make the LCDA, and in total, we have Seventy five people who we are empowering today and we still intend to do more soon as possible.”
The Chairman said efforts were in top gear to increase the office accommodations and put in place befitting office complex.
In a remark, the state commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Chief Folorunsho Olabode lauded the chairman for giving back to the people.
He described the gesture as a welcome development, urging other council bosses to follow suit
Responding on behalf of the beneficiares, Elder Ayo Fashola and the council party woman leader, thanked the Isokan leadership for the gifts.
They promised to make use of them for the purpose meant for.
