June 18 Guber Poll: INEC begins mock accreditation in Ekiti

In preparation for next month governorship Election in Ekiti State, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has commenced mock accreditation of intending voters.

The bimodal voter authentication system was supervised by the INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu and other management staff of the commission to ascertain it effectiveness.

The exercise which is less than five minutes saw the electorate submit his voter cards for authentication, while his finger print and face were captured.

The mock Accreditation was held in Ado, Ikere and Igede Ekiti.

Prof Yakubu who monitored the exercise in the communities expressed satisfaction at the process, saying it showed the readiness of INEC for the coming Election.

He said part of the objective of his visit to the state was to further test the functionality of the bimodal voter authentication machines before next month’s election.

The INEC boss explained that the commission had further put measures in place to discourage vote buying while necessary security agencies had been put on red alert

Prof Yakubu noted that the commission was leaving no stone unturned to ensure free and fair election, and charged everyone to come out and vote for the candidate of their choice on election day.
