Kajola LCDA Chairman Adebayo, distributes Maize, Cocoa, Palm seedlings to farmers.

The Chairman of Kajola Local Council Development Area, Chief Ojo Adebayo, has distributed thousands of seedlings to farmers to boost food security and reduce hunger in the state.

During the distribution at the council Secretariat at Ijesa-Isu-Ekiti, the Council Boss said that the gesture was to support Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s shared prosperity agenda in the agricultural sector.

The distributed seedlings in the LCDA included Maize, Cocoa, and Palm oil hybrids.

Chief Adebayo while addressing the beneficiaries, stated that the distribution aimed to address the prevailing food crisis, especially in Kajola LCDA.

He mentioned that over 150 local farmers benefited saying that this would complement the state government’s drive to scale up tree crop production.

Chief Adebayo explained the gesture aimed to create employment, generate wealth, and encourage more people into farming, particularly during this planting season.

“For Cocoa 60 stands would be giving per head and for the Palm trees we are giving them 40 stands. For Maize we are giving each beneficiaries 2kg of already treated Maize per head”.

“When we see a good and encouraging improvement as far as how they maintain it, we shall improve and we shall also give those who are yet to benefit”.

One Thousand Cocoa seedlings, 700 Palm Oil seedlings, and 100 packs of treated maize were distributed during the event.

The Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Chief Folorunsho Olabode, praised the council Boss for the gesture and urged farmers to utilize the seedlings effectively.

Former APC Women Leader, Mrs. Olufunke Owoseni, expressed confidence that the intervention would encourage greater harvests.

Some benefitted farmers including Mr Joshua Ogunlokun and Mr Kehinde Awoleye thanked Chief Adebayo for supporting farming.

In another initiative, the Kajola council Boss has settled medical bills for some patients at the General Hospital in Ijesa-Isu Ekiti and donated a generator set to enhance stable electricity.

Chief Adebayo said that the gesture was aimed to support the state government’s efforts in the health sector.
