Kota Ekiti pulls out of Saturday’s Council Poll

The Elekota of Kota-Ekiti, Oba Emmanuel Fagbemi, has appealed to the Ekiti State government to look into the issue of the relocation of the community to the newly created Ekiti South East Development Area.

Oba Fagbemi, who made the appeal while addressing newsmen, said it was the unanimous decision of the people of the community to remain in Ekiti East Local government instead of the newly created LCDA

He said the community was unmindful of the position of the government towards the growth of the town, as Kota was granted autonomy in the first tenure of the present administration, and thatt the second coming of Governor Fayemi had brought alot of development to the community.

He explained that the people of Kota had decided to remain in Ekiti East as the present Ekiti East Local government secretariat is sited on Kota land.

Oba Fagbemi said in view of the present status, the community had also decided not to participate in the Saturday’s Council Poll.

On his part, the Owa Ugbesi of Aramoko Ugbesi, Oba Lawrence Adeyeye, represented by Chief Taiwo Omotoso, also commended the Governor for his good works across the State, but aligned with Kota community, declaring that the Araromi Ugbesi also preferred to remain in Ekiti East.

Some Kota chiefs comprising, the Aro of Bolorunduro, Chief Bamidele Alo, the Iyalode, chief Racheal Ajayi, the Asaoye of Igbede, Chief Boye Oguntominiyi, and the Youth Leader, Chief Ojo Olayinka, corroborated the monarch on the position of the community

They appealed to Government to grant their request.
