The Bishop Michael Fagun Foundation has constructed and handed a study, and skill acquisition center to the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ado Ekiti Custodial Center.

Handing over the keys to the facility to the Conptroller of the Correctional Centre in Ado Ekiti, Mr Joseph Ojo, Emeritus Bishop Micheal Fagun said the idea of putting in place the structure was to empower inmates to be self reliant.

Bishop Fagun, in his address, said that the structure was to enable inmates to be useful to themselves and to the society.

He said “It was in the process of Correctional Centre visitation that the project of empowering inmates was conceived, that they be enabled to be useful to themselves and to their society through this Workshop Centre being commissioned now. This is being done as an example for others to help the helpless in our society. Despite our material poverty we are moved by Christian charity to help others live decently”.

Bishop Fagun urged other public spirited individuals to take a cue from the initiative and assist the less privileged in the society.

Responding, the Conptroller of the Correctional Centre, Mr Joseph Ojo, thanked the Emeritus Bishop for the gifts, saying one of the greatest challenge facing the nation was unemployment, expressing the hope that the center would further equip the inmates to be self employed after their jail terms.

He promised that the structure would be put to effective use

He encouraged other Non-Government Organizations and Individuals in the State to Collaborate with the Nigerian Correctional Service in their reformative process and, as well, extend their Corporate Social Responsibility to the inmates in order to build a sane and safe society.

In their Goodwill messages, guests commended the Foundation for giving back to the society.

They urged other well to do individuals to follow suit.
