It was an atmosphere of merriment at the NULGE Hall building in Ado the Ekiti State Capital as Procurement officers in the Ekiti State Local Government Service marked 2024 end of the year get-together.
The two in one event also marked the retirement celebration of Mrs Folake Adesina who untill her retirement, the Director of Procurement in Oye Ekiti.
Mrs Adesina who was beautiful dressed was joined by professional colleagues and family members while entering into the hall with songs of praise.
At the event were notable personalities including the Commissioner in charge of Procurement at LGSC Hon. Wole Adedipe, Permanent Secretary LGSC Mrs Titilayo Toba-Ojo, represented by Mr Familoye, Chairman Ikole local Government Hon. Bayo Omojola and the Executive Secretary Local Government Service Commission Mr Borisade Yinka.
Others are a retired Head of local government Administration from Ekiti East local government Pastor S.B. Agboola as well as Directors and Deputy Directors of Procurement from across the Local Governments and LCDAS as well as four boards at LGSC graced the occasion.
The Coordinator of Procurement officers in the local government service , Mr Agbaje Ayorinde in his opening remarks said that the initiative to hold the event was part of the Department’s strategies to make the working environment more conducive and flexible for staff.
He posited that the get together would inturn boost officers productivity for the overall interest of the State.
Agbaje also noted that it was important to celebrate the people who have sacrificed a lot to keep the work at the department going urging the officers to continue to put in their best for the overall development of the state.
He acknowledged the legacy, achievements, and invaluable contributions of the retired officers and the dedication and resilience of those still in active service.
The Coordinator also appreciated the effort of Bureau of public procurement (BPP), Auditor general to local government for their support in the year under review.
Mr Agbaje also appreciated the fatherly role displayed by the commissioner for information Hon Taiwo Olatunbosun to the department.
At the event Special recognition were given to individuals including Mrs Folake Adesina, Mr Olusola Oluwatuyi, Mr Adedayo Akingbade, Mr Femi Fasiku and Mrs Osunronbi among others for their contributions to the success of the procurement department.
The celebration was preceded by two lectures titled “Right Procedure is Key in Procurement Auditing: Enhancing Integrity and Value for Money – A Panacea to a Healthy Local Government System in Ekiti State,” delivered by Mr Banji Ajayi who is the Director of Procurement Ise/Orun Local Government as well as a lecture on “Leadership in Procurement,” delivered by Reverend Temitope Olujoro who is the Director of Procurement, Emure Local Government.
It was not speech making event as members wine and dine with sumptuous feast.
Gift was also presented to retired Mrs Folake Adesina while members prayed for her.
Mrs Adesina who could not hide her joy thanked the Procurement officers across the local government service for their support and love.
Some dignitaries who spoke at the event commended the dedicated officers for key in to the vision of the Ekiti State government, thanking them for adding value to rendering quality service delivery to Ekiti people.
