
A federal government delegation from the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) in Abuja has visited the Ekiti Agro Allied International Cargo Airport in Ado on facility tour just as non schedule commercial flights begins in earnest.
The team was on a 2 day working visit sequel to the approval given by the NCAA last December for the airport to begin operations.
The delegaton was welcomed by the Commissioners for Information, Chief Taiwo Olatunbosun his counterpart in the Environment, Chief Tosin Aluko and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Olayinka Oyebode amongst others
The delegation conveyed with a federal government calibration plane, on point of arrival took time to test the 3.5km runway to ascertain the communication and navigational devices.
The team leader thereafter had a brief with the Ekiti government officials.
Addressing newsmen, the Chairman, Ekiti Airport project, Air Vice marshal Sunday Makinde (Rtd) said the FG team was on a working flight operations to Ekiti Cargo Airport to ascertain its facilities, especially the communication system with control tower to ensure safe landing and take off of aircrafts in the airport.
The Commissioner for Information, Chief Taiwo Olatunbosun explained that with series of inspections by relevant regulatory aviation agencies the Ekiti Cargo Airport was ready for smooth take off.
Saying there will be traffic of airlines to the airport soonest, Chief Olatunbosun assured Ekiti people that the development will boost the socio economic and industrial development of the state.
In the meantime, the minister of Aviation would visit the airport on the 21st of this month.
