NOA sensitizes public on new Naira notes

The National Orientation Agency, NOA, Ekiti State office, has encouraged members of the public to exchange the old Naira notes for the new one before the expiration date of 31st of this month.

The State Director of the Agency, Mrs Olawumi Famuyiwa, who led a team from her office on a sensitization walk round the street of Ado, said that people must keep abreast of information, particularly, as the old notes would seize to be legal tender by the end of the month.

The walk took the NOA State Director and others through Adebayo, Fajuyi to okesa areas of the state capital.

During the walk, fliers containing information about the new and old currencies were distributed to the people.

Speaking with Journalists, Mrs Famuyiwa said that the people should not take the Central Bank of Nigeria directive for granted as the old Naira notes would not be tenable by the first of February.

She advised the people to deposit the old notes in banks.

She also spoke on how to differentiate between the original new naira notes and the counterfeit.

A CBN official, who was also on the train, Mr Kola Oyedokun, shed more light on how to identify a fake 1000 Naira note.

The team urged Ekiti people to do the needful before month end to avoid losing the old notes in their coffer.
