NYSC Ag DG harps on youth patriotism

One thousand one hundred and thirty five batch C stream 2 prospective corps members have been inducted in Ekiti.

The Acting Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Mrs Christy Uba while addressing the Youth at the NYSC camp, Ise Orun, Emure Ekiti charged them to explore every opportunity the scheme provided.

The Ag DG represented by the Ekiti State coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs Mary Chikezie who welcomed the corp members to the camp said the scheme was to prepare them for the task of the service year through training skills acquisition and other physical activities.

She called on the youths to be more patriotic to the nation in order to foster unity and reminded the corps members on the need to hold on to the objective of the founding fathers of Nigeria, by entrenching togetherness, oneness and harmonious living with other citizens.

Earlier the Ekiti state Chief Judge, represented by Justice Lekan Olatawura had administer oath on the youths, while representative of each platoon signed the oath of allegiance on behalf of others.

The Ekiti Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, had urged the corps members to develop the right attitude towards turning adversity to prosperity.

Oyebanji, who was represented by the Ekiti Head of Service, Mr Bamidele Agbede, said many had become winners even in the midst of challenges by having the mind set of turning it to opportunities for themselves.

The governor said great moment demands great courage and people, admonishing the youths to work hard to overcome inadequacies.

The corps members are to are to spend two weeks in camp after which they would be deployed to the places of their primary assignment.
