Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has directed the ministry of finance to as a matter of urgency release bailout support to local councils in the state, to enable them pay the December salaries of workers.
The Governor gave the directive at this year’s Service of Carols and lessons organized by the State Government and held at the Obafemi Awolowo Civic Center, Ado Ekiti.
He asked residents to celebrate the yuletide with the spirit of love and share with others.
The annual event was attended by top government functionaries, traditional rulers, lawmakers, and senior representatives of Christian body who all came to give thanks to God for the year 2024.
The Ekiti State Mass Choir, Women in management, women in politics led by the Governor’s wife, Dr Olayemi Abiodun Oyebaji, House of Assembly Choir, also thrilled the gathering with a different Christmas tunes.
There were also special rendition from members of the state executive council led by the Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji.
The Deputy Governor, Okinlua Monisade Afuye, wife of the Governor, Dr Olayemi Abiodun-Oyebanji while the Speaker Ekiti State House of Assemly, Mr Adeoye Aribasoye took the bible readings on the birth of Jesus Christ and his sacrifice to the world.
The Governor alluded the delay in the payment of December salary to local government workers to the financial autonomy process as demanded by the local councils in the country.
He said he would not fold his hands and allow workers in the state to suffer by any means.,
The Governor noted that he had directed the State Ministry of Finance to find means of bailout for the local councils to enable workers enjoy the forthcoming christmas and new year celebrations.
Governor Oyebanji described christmas as a season to show love and called on the state appointees to use the occasion to extend hands of generosity to their needy in the domains.
