Ahead of Sunday’s inauguration of a new governor and deputy in Ekiti State, Officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, Ekiti State Command, have intensified their rehearsal to make the handing over ceremony a colorful one.
During the visit of the BSES News Crew to the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado, the Officers and men of the Force were engaged in March past and other parade activities.
The band of the Command was on hand to supply complimentary tunes in response to the dictates of the Parade Commander.
The rehearsal is expected to continue till Saturday to ensure perfection.
Similarly, Ahead of the Transmission of power from the incumbent government in Ekiti to a new one, the Ekiti State Waste Management Agency, EKSWAMA, has doubled its efforts to rid the state capital of debris.
The General Manager of the agency, Mr Ayoola Osalusi, an Engineer, went round with newsmen to some points that residents have turned to dump sites.
Areas touched included Mathew Junction, Agric Olope, Ilawe Road and that of NTA.
Mr Osalusi said that the Agency was doing it’s best, but that the attitude of residents was uncomplimentary.
He re-echoed the resolve of the Agency not to be discouraged by the indiscriminate waste disposal, promising that stringent measures would be taken to curb the illegalities.
He said that the capital city would be kept clean before, during and after the inauguration of the new Governor.
He however urged residents of Ado Ekiti and its environs to desist from dumping refuse indiscriminately, warning that anyone caught would be made to face the law.
Osalusi also advised Ado residents to drop their wastes in front of their houses for easy pick up by waste collectors.
