No fewer than five lock up shops have gutted fire in ilao quarters of Aramoko Ekiti.

The source of the fire which could not be ascertained as at press time was believed to have occured owing to power surge.

Eye witness says the fire which started in the midnight lasted for hours before the arrival of the men of the fire fighters but could not salvage the situation.

Occupants of the shops who are machine repairer, pull over clothes, and plastic seller, as well as others appealed to government to come to their aid.

They said they had just stocked up their shops hopefully for Christmas sales, but all they got had been razed by the inferno.

They also appealed to public spirited people for help.

The lawmaker representing Ekiti west constituency one in the state house of Assembly, Mr Kareem Agunbiade who sympathized with the shops owners on the loss called for more proactive action on the part of the fire fighters.

He was of the view that if the fighters had arrived on time, the shops would not have been razed completely.
