Over eight hundred infrastructural projects spread across the Nine hundred and nine schools in Ekiti State are now being completed while new ones are expected to spring up from next week.
The Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, Professor Femi Akinwumi gave the information while addressing stakeholders at a day Sensitization meeting on the implementation of the 2019 School Based Management Committee, School Improvement Programme SBMC-SIP.
Professor Akinwumi said that the over eight hundred infrastructural projects were achieved due to the payment of over 7.3 billion as counterpart funds to the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC by the Dr Kayode Fayemi administration.
The SUBEB Boss who was of the view that the proper utilization of funds in schools will bring desired transformation called for the support of the stakeholders in the implementation of the 2019 SBMC projects.
The Permanent Secretary, SUBEB, Mr Oluwadare Ajayi said that the program became imperative as it was aimed at briefing stakeholders on the latest innovation introduced by UBEC.
He urged participants to give the workshop the necessary attention to ensure successful implementation of SBMC projects.
In his goodwill message, the Director of Social Mobilisation Unit of SUBEB, Mr Tope Babalola reeled out the success recorded in the 2018 SBMC programme in the State.
He said that the skill acquisition center at St. Louis Grammar School, Ikere was rated one of the best, promising that the Mobilisation Unit would not rest on its oars in giving the commission and board the best.
The Board of Executive Secretaries who spoke through its Chairman, Pastor Lawrence Egbeyemi and the Chairman Association of Primary School Headteachers of Nigeria, Mr Ajiboro Olusola commended the achievements recorded so far in the SBMC programme and called for improvement.
The Chairman, School Based Management Committee, Chief Sylvester Adeyanju called for thorough supervision of the SBMC projects across schools in the State.
Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC representative, Mr Noel Jose assured them that every discussion including the challenges presented would be relayed and attended to by the commission.
