Schools resume in Ekiti as Government monitors resumption

By Kelechi David

Public and Private Schools in Ekiti State have today resumed for 2021/2022 academic session.

The Ekiti State Government through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology had issued a calendar indicating that schools would reopen on Monday, the 6th of September, 2021 for another academic year.

Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Government commenced monitoring and inspection of schools to ensure compliance with Government directives on students’ resumption in the state.

During her inspection, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Ekiti State, Dr Olabimpe Aderiye said that the State has 37 Neighbourhood Inspectors, 3 Tutors General, 19 Area Education Officers and 16 Education Secretaries on the field who are also on inspection visits to enhance the smooth take off of 2021/2022 academic year.

She debunked the rumor that Ekiti State Government extended the holiday and stressed that Government expected all school age children in their schools from today.

The Commissioner assured parents and guardians that all children who passed the placement examination would be appropriately placed in schools.

Dr Aderiye explained that admission of students to JSS1 class was done in phases to ensure compliance with COVID protocols

Schools visited were All Souls’ Grammar School, CAC Comprehensive High School and Olaoluwa Grammar School, all in Ado Ekiti.
