The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charged of Ekiti State Election, Mr Johnson Kokumo has declared that Securing tomorrow’s Election in Ekiti State is a must for the force.
Kokumo who was on a courtesy call on the Residents Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Ado said necessary measures have been put in place to ensure smooth, free, fair and credible Election.
He explained that, before now the force in collaboration with other security agencies, had Mopped up arms in circulation and also ensure that the state borders are secured.
He charged Members of the public to cooperate with with security agents by abiding by vehicular movement restrictions.
Kokumo said his men were out to look out for electoral offenders and ensure they were arrested, investigated and prosecuted, expressing the force’s readiness to work for INEC to ensure Ekiti election is fair, free, and credible.
Responding the REC, Dr Adeniran Tella said Security operatives are critical stakeholders in any Election, charging them to be more proactive in securing Ekiti.
He advised the security operatives to synergies to prevent impersonation.
