Synergize with Relevant bodies to increase state’s IGR…gov Oyebanji charges workers

For Government to drive its agenda effectively and make life bearable for its citizens, there is need for Workers to synergize with relevant bodies to increase the revenue base of the state.

This was the position of the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, during the Treasury Budget meeting for the 2023 proposed budget held in his office.

The treasury budget meeting had in attendance top government functionaries where they were presented the breakdown of next year budget estimate.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mr Sesan Alabi, explained the performance of 2022 budget and also gave the breakdown of the proposed 2023 budget in tandem with Medium Term Expenditure Framework.

Mr Alabi maintained that for any government to meet its obligations for the year, there was the need for proper financial Planning.

He explained that the 2023 budget was aimed at satisfying the 6 point agenda of the Oyebanji administration.

In their presentations, the Permanent Secretary, Public Utilities, Mr Olumide Ajayi, General Manager, Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State, Mr Olu Popoola, Director State Library Board, Mrs Adeyeye and EKSUTH CMD, Professor Kayode Olabanji, urged the state government to considerbthe critical needs of their establishment in next year’s budget.

In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji said that his administration would perform optimally in all sectors of the state’s economy.

He urged public servants to be transparent and be proactive the more in the discharge of their duties.

He said that the Government needed improved revenue to implement its policies and programmes for the people.

Mr Oyebanji appealed to public servants to cooperate with the State Internal Revenue Service for improved revenue generation.

Reiterating his commitment to workers welfare, the governor said would not approve frivolous conferences and workshops that would not add value to the state.
