The Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, says that the Yearly Udiroko Festival celebration has been the source of numerous developments in the town.
The monarch gave the information while addressing journalists on activities lined up for this year’s Udiroko day celebration
Oba Adejugbe, who explained that the annual Udiroko celebration was to offer prayers and to plan for the year ahead, dated back to the settlement of Ado’s forefathers.
He said that before the modernization of the state capital, the celebration was done yearly under the Iroko tree where the founding fathers of the community settled.
Oba Adejugbe explained that during the annual celebration, Ado Indigenes were expected to pay homage and loyalty to their ancestor and pray for the peaceful co-existence of the community.
The monarch noted that Udiroko had brought numerous developmental opportunities to the community, part of which included the renovation of the palace and construction of EKSU faculty of Law within 6 months.
He added that the festival would also afford Ado Ekiti indigenes to know the achievements of the community last one year.
He encouraged Ado’s sons and daughters, as well as well, wishers to be part of the celebration.
Responding to questions, Oba Adejugbe said that the President of the and some other National Assembly members were invited to be part of the celebration.
On his directive that marketers in Ado should reduce the prices of consumables, Oba Adejugbe expressed optimism that the instructions would be complied with.
