The Social Democratic Party candidate for the Ekiti North Federal Constituency one in the forthcoming National Assembly Election, Mr Bimbo Daramola, has declared that vote buying was cancerous and if not tamed might consume the nation.
Daramola made the submission while addressing journalists in Ado Ekiti, on his plans if voted to power.
The SDP candidate, who is aspiring to represent Ikole and Oye local governments at the House of Representatives, said that vote buying had eaten deep into the nation’s Electoral system and that if not curbed would prevent genuine candidates from winning elections.
He added that some politicians were taking advantage of poverty, and hunger in the land to compromise their conscience.
Daramola, who had represented the constituency between 2011 to 2015, said his antecedents were enough to speak for him.
He noted that while at the National Assembly, he facilitated construction of boreholes for some communities, constructed a hospital, distributed Jamb forms for the youths and empowered many of his constituents.
The SDP National Assembly Candidate challenged any of his co-contestants with such a track record to come up with it.
He described himself as the most experienced for the job as he would be a ranking member of the House of Representatives if given the mandate.
Daramola promised to use his influence and connections with highly placed personalities across the country to facilitate greater opportunities for his constituents if elected.
The SDP candidate urged the people of his constituency to vote for him because of his pedigree.
“I have done it before and my people felt my positive contribution, I can do it again, and this time it would be better “..he said
