A woman whose name cannot be ascertained as at the time of this report has been confirmed died from generator fumes at Ifaki-Ekiti in Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
The victim, who recently came to Ifaki-Ekiti from Lagos for a burial was said to be one of the four victims who were affected by the fumes of the generator that they set working all night while they went to bed.
Confirming the incident, the Chief Medical Director, St David’s Hospital, Ifaki-Ekiti, Dr Olubiyi said that four people were brought to the hospital around three in the morning of which one of them was confirmed dead on arrival while three others were placed on intensive care.
He said that the victims were recuperating, adding that they suffocated and one died in her sleep, as three other victims were unconscious as a result of the fumes and were receiving medical attention.
Dr Olubiyi said that the victims who were brought to the hospital were all drunk, appealing to people to always exercise caution.
BSES learnt that the corpse had been deposited at morgue by the men of the Nigeria Police Force in Ido/Osi Local Government Area.
All efforts made to speak to the Police Public Relation Officer, Sunday Abutu proved abortive.
