Ekiti State Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi has handed over cheques worth three hundred million Naira to three Technical colleges in the state under the world bank assisted project tagged innovation Development and Effectiveness in Acquisition of skills IDEAS.
Dr Fayemi at the Flagg off ceremony of the distribution of the cheques in Ado, said that government would continue to invest in technical and vocational education to enhance skills development and sustainable economic growth.
The Technical colleges in Igbara-Odo, Ijero and Otun Ekiti benefited from the world bank assisted project
Governor Fayemi who described technical and vocational education as the bed rock for the socio economic growth of the society said his administration was determined to repositioned the colleges for efficient service delivery.
He said government placed importance on technical and vocational education to provide the platform for youths to acquire relevant skills that would make them self-reliant and promote sustainable economic development of the state.
The governor revealed that the funds would be utilized to purchase technical equipment to enable the colleges train Thier students in different skills.
He said that government would Continue to partner international organizations in area of education and other sectors to fast track the development of the state.
Earlier in his remarks, the chairman, Board for Technical and vocational Education pastor Kayode Babade said the colleges had received necessary attention from government and the development had increased the enrollment of students across technical colleges in the state.
He encouraged youths to take advantage of the various skill Acquisition programmes at the colleges to become self reliance
