… trains farmers on agricultural best practices
The lawmaker representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency 1 at the National Assembly, AVM Adeniyi Ojuawo Rtd., has organized a two day capacity building workshop to train about a hundred youths and farmers in his constituency on modern crops production and animal husbandry techniques.with a promise to give agricultural inputs, grants including improved seeds to the selected beneficiaries after the training exercise.
Ojuawo, who spoke at the opening session of training held in Ikere West local government secretariat said the program was initiated to scale up interventions and explore value chains to enhance agricultural productivity.
He said he was committed to creating job opportunities in the agribusiness and as well revolutionizing agriculture in the area to ensure food-sufficiency.
The lawmaker explained that his vision was to expose the mind of youths to business opportunities in farming and as well enhance agricultural practices.
He attributed the causes of crime in the society to youth restiveness hence the need to make them busy and productive.
The House of Representative Member charged the participants to key into the best agricultural practices to improve their productivity.
In his remarks Ekiti State Governor Mr biodun oyebanji represented by the Commissioner for agriculture and food security Mr Ebenezer Boluwade commended the law maker for building the capacity of Farmers in the area.
He maintained that the present administration was committed towards promoting and facilitating policies aimed at making the state self sufficient in food production and creating job in agric value-chain to enhance industrialization in the state.
In their Good will messages some dignitaries including the Commissioner for Local Government chief Folorunso Olabode , vice chairman farmers Congress Mr Sunday Adekogbon thanked Air Vice Marshal ojuawo for changing the narrative by focusing on agriculture as parr of his constituency project
The theme: of the program is Agroprenue: building reliance and sustainability in crop production and animal husbandary.
The beneficiaries were selected from Ise, Ikere, and Ekiti south west local government ares of the state
