Nine hundred and ten laptops have been distributed by the Ekiti state government in conjunction with the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment Project AGILE to thirty five secondary schools across the State to further aid learning and study,
The wife of the governor, Dr Olayemi Abiodun-Oyebanji distributed the laptops at a program held at the Adetiloye hall in Ado.
Handing over the laptops to the representatives of each school, the Ekiti First Lady, Dr Abiodun-Oyebanji said a sum of twenty five million US dollars was allotted to Ekiti State for the project by the world bank.
She explained that the fund would also be used for the renovation of dilapidated buildings in the public secondary schools, provide safe spaces in schools, training teachers and students digital and life skills.
Dr Abiodun-Oyebanji informed the gathering which has relevant stakeholders that 1,690 laptop computers will be distributed to 65 secondary schools in the next two months.
Earlier the Coordinator of Agile in Ekiti State, Mrs Yewande Adesua who briefed the gathering the activities and achievements of the organization in Ekiti State.
The state Deputy Governor Okilua Monisade Afuye, the president customary court of Appeal, Justice Oluwatoyin Abodunde and the chairman state Universal Basic Education Board, Prof Femi Akinwumi represented by Mr Tope Babalola lauded the state government for the initiative and charged the students to use the gadgets for the purposes it was meant for.
Other side attractions at the program included stage drama depicting the achievements of Agile in the state and light entertainment by the state standing troupe..
