Renewed cult clash in Ikere claims two, curfew declared

Ikere Ekiti Local government area of Ekiti State have declared a dusk to dawn curfew in the community following a renewed clash between cultists in the one town local government.

In a release signed by the chairman of the council, Otunba Femi Ayodele, the 6pm to 6am curfew became necessary as two people were reportedly killed by cultists on Tuesday (may 18th).

The community was recently in the news for cult related clashes that claimed close to 11 lives in the area.

The timely intervention of the men of the security agencies in the state was said to have curtail the killing spree then, before the recent killing last Tuesday.

Otunba Ayodele who called on the people of lkere Local Government to adhere strictly to the curfew as security personnel will severely dealt with anyone arrested violating this order, advised parents to caution their wards.

The statement reads:

“In view ot the rising killings among the suspected cultists in lkere Local Government, the leadership of the Council has now imposed curfew from 6pm to 6am from today Wednesday 19th May 2021 to Sunday 23” May 2021 to curtail this ugly act.

“In a release personally signed by the Council boss Ofunba Femi Ayodele, he said this step is necessary following the killing of two people in lkere-Ekiti by suspected cultists on Tuesday 18h May 2021.

“He called on the good people of lkere Local Government to adhere strictly to this instruction as security personnel will severely dealt with anyone arrested violating this order.
