Six Political Parties set for Ekiti Council Poll.

Six political parties are to participate in the forthcoming local government election in Ekiti State, slated for December four.

The Chairman of the Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission, Justice Babajide Aladejana, gave the information to update the public on preparations ahead of the poll, at the headquarters of the Commission in Ado Ekiti.

The EKSIEC Chairman listed the names of the participating political parties to include, Young Progressives Party (YPP), Action Alliance(AA), African Democratic congress (ADC), All Progressives Congress (APC), All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) and National Rescue Movement (NRM)

The EKSIEC boss, said the exercise would be held in all the voting units across the 177 wards in the state, noting that the recent delineation of polling units by NEC would not be abandoned by the Commission.

Saying that the electoral body had met with relevant stakeholders to create awareness about the election, Justice Aladejana expressed the readiness of EKSIEC to conduct a transparent poll.

Justice Aladejana also informed Journalists that 35 Returning Officers of high repute, 250 Supervisory Presiding Officers, 180 Ward Returning Officers and 2,500 poll clerks and poll orderlies would be engaged for the conduct of the election.

The EKSIEC Boss said the sensitive and non materials would be unveiled a day to the election, adding that all the votes cast would be counted and recorded at the poling units for transparency before onward transmission to the collation center.

Responding to questions from Journalists, especially on the participation of PDP in the election, the EKSIEC boss explained that the PDP had earlier approached the Commission through its Acting State Chairman for the collection of forms, but never showed up thereafter.
